Hector Nieves- Sabor Boricua
Friday, September 10th, 2010
Featuring:
Mario Rodriguez - Bass Anthony Carrillo - Percussion
Ricky Salas - Percussion
Beginning September 10th, 2010, La Fonda Boricua will begin featuring Hector Nieves every Thursday in what promises to be a series that will go down in history as something special, forever a fond memory for those lucky enough to go and experience it. For Hector Nieves, a master flautist, and his 5 piece Latin jazz group, it will not be the first time that they take part in a historic event. They made history in the Nineties, every Monday night in New York ’s Village, in a place called Mondo Perso. What happened there at that time was truly historic as the event became a musician magnet for every touring musician that was passing through New York . Anybody that played an instrument that was somebody had to go to Mundo Perso on Monday nights to sit in with Hector and the fellas. Sidemen from bands as diverse as Manhattan Transfer, Bob Marley, the Tito Puente band, the Allman Brothers, Santana and other such world renowned groups made pilgrimage to Mondo Perso. What transpired was truly sublime. The direction the music took on any given night was unpredictable but the results always fabulous. Another chance to go jam with the fellas, create magic, a little more history, and maybe, some more great memories.
